I love pretty wedding styling mats. I love them so much that I probably own too many of them. And what’s silly about owning as many as I do, is the fact that I seldom use more than one or two of them. I bring my most neutral-colored styling mats to my weddings because I know those will pair well with most of my weddings’ color palette and my couples’ detail items and invitation suites.
This may not seem like an issue, but trust me it is.
Each couple puts time, thought, and money into making their wedding invitation suite and personal items unique. To have those deeply personal items photographed on the same one or two backgrounds for every wedding does not do your detail items justice. They deserve to have a background that is special and never seen before.
To fix that issue, I could buy a new mat for every wedding…but then I’d have a stockpile of unused styling mats in my closet. Or worse, they’d be thrown out and add to the overwhelming waste problem.
Since neither of those options are good options, what can you do to make sure you have a complete one-of-a-kind, original background to go with your one-of-a-kind custom wedding invitation suite and wedding detail item photographs?
You, the couple, can buy a bespoke, custom styling mat in one, or many, of your wedding colors from Lindale Studios. Why go custom? Because going custom means that no one else will ever have the same styling mat as you. Not only that, but if you buy a custom styling mat in your wedding colors, it’s going to be cohesive with your entire wedding design!
Think of your styling mat as another wedding detail item; on par with your invitations, ring box, and personalized hanger.
And your styling mat doesn’t have to sit in your closet after your wedding. Oh no. After your wedding, you can use it to make a wedding day keepsake! Put it in a frame with one of your favorite portraits for a stunning display piece. Make a resign flower keepsake and use it as its backdrop. The options are limitless.
I love this couple’s custom wedding styling mat that Katrina created. It gleefully plays off of the colors in their cake, cocktail hour drinks, and the colors found in their invitation suite.
In this one, Katrina pulled colors from the couple’s florals and created a styling mat that would compliment those hues of red and pink. And the couple turned it up to 11 with their styling details…do you see that cute terracotta dish that’s perfectly in line with the color palette?! Everything is cohesive and looks so high-end.
And here’s a hint: having color and design cohesion throughout your wedding, as shown in all of the above images, will make your wedding look more expensive than it was – and I think that’s a huge win for everyone!
If you’re interested in purchasing a styling mat for your wedding, my absolute favorite artist is Lindale Studios. Katrina specializes in creating bespoke, custom styling mats and backdrops that match each individual wedding. She makes styling mats, runners, and backdrops (can you say, “Hello beautiful portrait backdrop?!”).
Katrina also makes pre-made styling mats if you’re not ready to go full on custom. That’s actually how I first came across her work. I was at an editorial shoot and we were using her styling mats and I fell in love with them. But, where her heart truly lies, is in making custom work for her wedding clients. So reach out to Katrina and tell her Lauren Baker Photography sent you.
