Congratulations friend! You just said yes to your fiancé and you’re over the moon excited and can’t wait to start planning your dream wedding! But where should you start? Before you get in over your head, let me take your hand and walk you through the first 5 things I recommend doing after you become engaged.
There are so many things to be thankful for – yes, even in the wild year that was 2020. For Candace and Chase, on Thanksgiving Day morning, they added one more pretty epic item to their “I’m thankful for XYZ” list! Y’all know how much I geek out over love, right? So when I have the chance to photograph a proposal I geek out and squeal extra hard.
Engagement sessions are always special. They’re often the first professional photographs a couple takes together that specifically showcases how much they love each other. And what makes engagement photographs even more special is when they’re taken in a place that holds sentimental meaning for the couple. And that’s exactly what Jana and Ben wanted for their engagement session.

Lauren, Matt, my associate Danielle, and I met at the Minnesota Wedding Guide’s Wedding Fair in mid-October and there was an immediate connection. Not just because they have the same names as my fiancé and me (though that was certainly an initial and hilarious icebreaker) but because of their romantic and love-bug spirits.
Talk about kindred souls. Lisa and James are truly, and wholeheartedly, made for each other. I know I’m a sap for love stories and my life’s mission is to make people happy but I was absurdly stoked when Lisa said she wanted my team to be her and James’ wedding and engagement photographer. Like…I think […]
As far as I’m concerned, engagement sessions should always – always – feel like a date. So when asked “where would you like to take your photographs?” Melissa and Jared, without skipping a beat, said “The Minnesota Zoo.” And y’all…this is why we say to choose a spot with personal, sentimental meaning. Melissa and Jared […]
