Lindsay and Connor’s engagement session was the perfect blend of chic city style and natural romance, everything an elegant Minneapolis engagement session in Loring Park can (and should) be. We started their session at Café Bar Lurcat before heading into Loring Park and the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden. This mix of settings allowed us to capture both the elevated, editorial vibe they wanted and the laid-back, outdoorsy feel that reflects their personalities.

Elevated Engagement Bar Vibes at Café Bar Lurcat

I love helping couples design their engagement sessions around something that feels like a real date night. Lindsay and Connor wanted something refined, elevated, with a semi “Main Street Downtown” vibe. I knew just the place!

We kicked off the evening at Café Bar Lurcat, a Minneapolis staple known for its cozy yet elevated atmosphere. Sadly, this iconic spot is closing after over 20 years, which makes these photos even more special. Over cocktails, they eased into their session, shaking off their nerves as we captured portraits that felt effortlessly chic.

The elegant setting and the charming block surrounding the café were the perfect backdrop for their first outfit. Lindsay wore a chic white high-neck dress with Sam Edelman heels, while Connor looked polished in a preppy short-sleeve sweater with navy pants and brown dress shoes.

Loring Park Engagement Photo Session

After enjoying cocktails and a few editorial-style portraits around Café Bar Lurcat, we walked across the street to Loring Park. The park gave us a more relaxed, nature-filled backdrop with its winding paths, open spaces, and golden fall light. To fit the more relaxed vibe, Lindsay and Connor changed into casual outfits. Lindsay wore a short-sleeve ivory sweater and dark jeans and Connor wore a layered cream-and-white look with brown pants and sneakers.

Loring Park is one of my favorite spots in Minneapolis! It’s especially ideal for engaged couples who want a mix of natural beauty and city energy! This particular evening was warm and golden, providing us with the perfect light for capturing more relaxed and candid portraits. I always tell clients that the first 15–20 minutes are a warmup, and sure enough, by this point, Lindsay and Connor were fully in the groove, laughing, interacting naturally, and enjoying the experience.

We ended the evening at the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden, where the sun peeked behind the Basilica of Saint Mary. By this point, Lindsay and Connor had fully relaxed in front of the camera. And it was so endearing to watch them laugh, play, and lean into each other!!
