When my husband and I go on a vacation, we like to schedule a portrait session. It’s a fun way to remember our trip and it gives us an opportunity to create a new memory together. So, when Sierra and Andrew said they wanted to schedule a honeymoon photo session with me in Venice I was super excited! As a wedding photographer in Venice, Italy, it’s a joy to explore the city with newlyweds.
We met at Piazza San Marco (St. Mark’s Square) fairly early in the morning. And while it was chilly, it was worth it to get an early start so we wouldn’t have too many people in our backgrounds. If we had waited another hour, the plaza would have been filled with tons of tourists.
After we took photos with the iconic Piazza San Marco in the background, we chose to do something a little different next. We wanted to give some love to Venetian stonework in our photos. The building materials in Venice, Italy are so pretty. So pretty in fact that I knew they’d help us create a romantic vibe for Sierra and Andrew’s honeymoon photos!
As Sierra and Andrew’s Venice, Italy honeymoon photo session was coming to a close, I recommended that they go and get some espresso to warm up.
One of the things Piazza San Marco is known for is its romantic cafes. They cost a little bit more (you’re paying for the location) but it’s totally worth it. The cafes are charming, the people-watching is superb, and depending on the time of day there’s music to listen to. The next time you’re in Venice, get a table to either Caffè Florian or Caffè Quadri and enjoy.
I could have spent days in Venice, and hope to get back there someday soon. There are so many cool spots to take honeymoon, engagement, and wedding photos in Venice and I want to explore them all.
