Lauren Baker is a fine art wedding photographer serving Boston, New England, and available for destinations worldwide.
Reason #135 why I love my job: I get to share information from the top wedding excerpts with all of my couples.
Melody, owner and lead planner of Events by Melody, is an award-winning wedding and event planner based in Minneapolis. Her work is sublime and always full of personality, which is fitting because her motto is “PLAN. PARTY. PERFECTION.”
Aside from her being an awesome #girlboss, what makes Melody’s work stand out to me is her attention to detail. Not just the details like center pieces and invites, though she does stress their importance, but rather the details that often get overlooked when planning a wedding.
Melody has graciously let me share her spectacular blog post about commonly overlooked wedding day details. To read the entire blog article, please visit Events by Melody.
My favorite detail Melody talks about is #5 “Plan B for bad weather.” You’re probably familiar with my article “How to prepare for rain on your wedding day.” If you’re not, go read it now…I’ll wait…
In my article, I talk about having a plan B for your photos. It’s just as important have a plan B for your outdoor ceremony! Especially since our MN summers and falls seem to be getting rainier.
Another of my faves is #7: Emergency kit. If you hire Lauren Baker Photography for your wedding, I’ll provide you with a cute emergency kit so you don’t have to spend money on one. 😉
The only detail I’d like to add to Melody’s list is parking for vendors.
Parking fees mostly pertain to couples getting married in Downtown Minneapolis, Downtown St. Paul, or any other venue that doesn’t have free onsite parking. Some venues have a way to offer complimentary parking (or discounted parking) to your vendors. Inquire with your venue to see if that’s something they offer and if they don’t, plan to budget a few hours of parking for your hair & makeup vendors and all day parking for your photographer, videographer, planner, and other vendors who will be in attendance for most of the day.
Thanks Melody and everyone at Events by Melody for sharing your amazing wisdom with us!
