Maddy and Derek’s summer wedding in Cape Cod was the perfect way to spend the last weekend of summer 2022! I got to photograph these two love bugs alongside my pal and fellow photographer, Ariel Grondin.
Cape Cod weddings are quickly becoming a favorite of mine here on the East Coast. The fresh salt air, the charming inns, and the abundance of seafood agree with me so much, it’s crazy to think I spent most of my life without them in the Midwest!
Wedding in Cape Cod
I started the day, as many wedding photographers do, photographing the wedding party while they get ready. Derek and his groomsmen snacked on pizza and Cape Cod chips (classic!) at the Inn on the Square in Falmouth, MA. It’s a charming boutique inn with a few cottages in the town’s downtown.
From the Inn, we shuttled over to St. Joseph’s Chapel, the cutest little Catholic church I had ever seen. I loved the simple yet elegant decor that one tends to associate with older coastal churches. And what was on the other side of the street? Oh…just the ocean. NBD. Seriously, the Cape is utterly beautiful!
Maddy and Derek said their vows, kissed their kisses, and we all bounced over to the Woods Hole Golf Club. And DAMN is it impressive! How could it not be with that view?!
Guests mingled, ate delicious hors d’oeuvres (can I get another coconut shrimp, please?), and enjoyed the fantastic summer weather. Yes, it had a hint of fall in the air, but the final weekend of summer was showing off big time!

There was a chunk of time in our wedding planning when we thought we'd go without a professional photographer to save on cost (terrible idea!) but once we met with Lauren, we knew we'd be in good hands.
