The Boston Public Garden – Classic. Iconic. 100% Bostonian. Is there a better spot to take iconic engagement photos than Boston Public Garden? That’s what Arielle, Anthony, and I think at least.
We met up on THE HOTTEST day of the summer to take some cute, what I’m now calling “pre-engagement” couple photos at Boston Public Garden and Beacon Hill. I’m dubbing them as “pre-engagement” photos because Arielle and Anthony got engaged a week after we took their photos whilst on their vacation to Maine.
Arielle and Anthony have been together for years; they met in college and now live together in Somerville, MA. When we discussed the location for their photos, they wanted a classic Boston backdrop. Naturally, Beacon Hill and the Boston Public Garden sprang to mind. So, Beacon Hill and Boston Public Garden engagement photos is what they got! 🙂
We began their pre engagement photo session at Boston Public Garden. The lush willows, well-groomed landscape, and iconic pond made for an ethereal vibe…even if it was 100 degrees out. Even though it was sweltering out, you’d never know it by looking at Arielle and Anthony. They were as cool as cucumbers and radiated love and happiness!
One of the things I love most about photographing in the Boston Public Garden is that there’s a plethora of pretty spots in and around the park. This is incredibly important when you’re taking photos at a place with LOTS AND LOTS of people around. We were able to find picturesque nooks, without people in the background with relative ease.
Another thing I love about the Public Garden is it’s proximity to Beacon Hill. And when you’re in Beacon Hill, you’re basically obligated to visit Acorn Street…which is exactly what we did. Was that Basic of us? Maybe. Did we care? Hell nah!
Again, since Beacon Hill is a popular tourist spot, we wanted to be aware and not hog the middle of the road (nor did we especially want to photobomb tourists’ photos). One of my many skills as a photographer is my ability to work efficiently while capturing a variety of poses. I got to flex those art director skills of mine and we walked away a few moments later with some super romantic photographs.
Arielle and Anthony’s engagement photo session ended with a leisurely walk around Beacon Hill, talks about our dinner plans, and chatter about how excited we all were to get into some AC.
I absolutely adore Arielle and Anthony and am so happy with the photographs we made together. As they now step into the task of planning their wedding, I’d like to wish them every happiness. And hopefully, if the date works out, I’ll get to spend more time with them photographing their wedding!!
