Summer is the perfect time to gather with your loved ones, soak up the sun, and create beautiful memories that will last a lifetime. And what better way to preserve those cherished moments than through a family photoshoot? That’s exactly what Leigh and her family did earlier this July. Leigh, a talented photographer out of Austin, TX, reached out and said she and her family would love to meet up and do a Cape Cod family photography session with me while in town on vacation. And y’all know me, whenever I get a chance to come down to the Cape, I jump on it!
Cape Cod is the perfect destination for family photography sessions. Beyond its natural beauty, the Cape is renowned for its charming towns and captivating architecture. Picture-perfect cottages, historic homes, and quaint streets lined with blooming flowers create an enchanting atmosphere for your family portraits. When I asked Leigh if she had a particular vision for her family’s photography session, that’s precisely the scene she described: a Chatham Bars Inn vibe with hydrangeas and a cottage.
While we decided Chatham Bars Inn was a bit further than we wanted to go, I found the most adorable location for Leigh and her family. Shining Tides has that perfect Cape Cod aesthetic and was just minutes from where the family was staying.
It’s always a little intimidating when you’re asked to photograph another photographer. But Leigh and her family were so lovely! It wasn’t too long after we began that it felt like we were just old friends. After we took a few photos at Shining Tides, we headed out to a nearby beach for the tail end of our Cape Cod family photography session. Because…come on! You can’t not go to the beach when you’re down on the Cape, right?

Leigh, thanks for entrusting me with your family’s memories. It was a pleasure meeting you and I can’t wait to connect with you the next time I’m in Texas!!
