Charlotte and Robert’s Chatham Bars Inn wedding was nothing short of spectacular. Despite the persistent rain that marked many New England weddings this season, their love lit up every moment, creating a day filled with happiness, friendship, and unforgettable experiences. I had the honor of photographing their wedding as a second photographer for my friend Catherine Band.
Charlotte and her bridesmaids were in great spirits as they got ready inside the cozy Claflin House. As I waited for Robert and his groomsmen to arrive, I spent took candid getting-ready photos of the gals.
As soon as the guys arrived, I hopped over, with an umbrella in hand, to the Ocean Spray cottage. And before too long, Robert, his dad, and his groomsmen finished tying each other’s bowties and got Robert ready to head out to his first look.
Before this past wedding season, I would have said it’s uncommon to have a completely rained-out wedding day where we don’t get to take any photos outside. Unfortunately for us, today was one such day.
Luckily, Chatham Bars Inn offers beautiful indoor spaces flooded with natural light, which makes them perfect for indoor portraits! So if you’re having a Chatham Bars Inn wedding, you’ll always have a beautiful portrait location available! The Harbor View Room, inside the main Chatham Bars Inn building, provided the ideal backdrop for Charlotte and Robert’s emotional first look and stunning couple, wedding party, and family portraits.
Rather than having their wedding ceremony outside on the lawn overlooking the ocean, the decision was made to move it inside to the Monomoy building. And honestly, had I not known the original plan, I wouldn’t have been able to tell that this wasn’t their plan all along. Again, it just speaks to the amazing vendor team Charlotte and Robert hired, led by the always incredible K. Kerkorian Events team.
Inside the Monomoy building, gorgeous florals from Mina Flowers lined the aisle creating a vision of elegant romance. As the last guest took their seat, the ceremony began with a touching rendition of “I Dreamed A Dream” from Les Miserables, sung by one of Robert’s sisters. Her angelic voice filled the room with so much emotion which set the perfect tone for Charlotte and Robert’s ceremony.
Following the ceremony, guests walked down towards the cozy confines of the Beach House for cocktail hour. Amidst their chatter and laughter, they celebrated the newlyweds, indulging in delicious hors d’oeuvres and toasting Charlotte and Robert’s love.
As the sun dipped behind Chatham Bars Inn, everyone made their way toward the gigantic Sperry Tent on the South Lawn where the wedding reception was. The warmth of the tent was a lovely reprieve from the rain and my feet were grateful for the nearby heaters.
As Charlotte and Robert’s family and friends settled in, the band started playing and everyone was excited for an evening of good food, yummy drinks, heartfelt toasts, and wild festivities!
Charlotte and Robert’s Chatham Bars Inn wedding was a testament to the power of love, resilience, and the beauty of embracing life’s unexpected twists and turns. Despite the rainy weather, their day was filled with warmth, laughter, and moments of pure magic. Here’s to a lifetime of love and happiness for Charlotte and Robert as they embark on this beautiful journey together!
