Lauren Baker is a fine art wedding photographer serving Boston, New England, and available for destinations worldwide.
The second wedding planner I’d like to feature in my round up is Essen Events. Essent Events is a Minneapolis wedding planner who in addition to planning also designs wedding florals.
Hailey, from Essen Events, is one of my favorite wedding planners in Minneapolis. Hell, she’s one of my favorite Minnesota wedding planners! I love working with her and will jump at any opportunity to do so.
Essen Events is unique in the wedding planning world. That’s because they offer floral design in addition to full service and day of coordination wedding planning! That means they get to play and design all of the pretty elements of their clients’ weddings!! Those are some damn lucky couples, if I do say so myself.
Hailey’s favorite thing about her job is her clients. (Awwwww!) She said helping her clients hone in on their wedding vision makes her heart smile. It’s also incredibly rewarding to make her clients’ Pinterest boards jump off the computer screen and into real life.
One tip Hailey would like couples to know is the differences between wedding planners/day of coordinators and venue coordinators.
Your venue’s “in-house coordinator” is not the same thing as a day-of coordinator. [Day of coordinators] care about you, your parents, your wedding party, your vendors, and your guests. [Venue coordinators’] primary responsibility is to take care of the venue.

I’d like to add that while venue coordinators care about their couples, their main responsibility is to care for the venue. If you want someone who specifically works for you, who’ll communicate with your vendors, set up decor, and make sure everything runs smoothly, you’ll want to hire a wedding planner.
