Another wedding with Arielle Unger Photography in the books. This time, I got to celebrate and take Ashley and Jim’s Willowdale Estate wedding photos. And y’all, when I say their Willowdale Estate wedding was a dream, I mean, it was straight out of a fairytale!!

Willowdale Estate, a Craftsman and Tudor Revival Stone Mansion in Topsfield, MA, is located in Bradley Palmer State Park. As you look upon the Mansion, you can clearly see that its design was inspired by the Mansions and Castles of Aberdeen in Scotland. Its Old World, Scottish aesthetic had me swooning. It’s no secret that I go ga-ga over anything that’s Scottish, Irish, or English-inspired.

The unseasonably-warm weather for Ashley and Jim’s wedding was perfect. Normally when you think of November in Massachusetts, you think of cold and wet. But somehow (global warming?) it was a balmy 70 degrees! While that is truly disconcerting from a global weather perspective, it was a welcome surprise since it’s no fun to take photos in the cold.

Ashley and Jim, are some of the sweetest humans on the planet. And, if I do say so myself, a very handsome pair. I mean, look at her in her dress! And Jim? He wore that suit like a BOSS!

My favorite moment of the day was Ashley and Jim’s vows. They wrote their own heartfelt vows, and somehow, both made reference to the same Lord of the Rings quotes. If I hadn’t already been in love with them, their nerdy love for Tolkien sealed the deal!

After the ceremony, we dashed outside to take their couple photos. The light was fading quickly (thanks Day Light Savings Time ending…grr) so we had to be efficient. Luckily, working efficiently is my bread and butter, and we walked away with a variety of classic and modern wedding portraits.

The rest of the evening unfolded serenely. Ashley and Jim were showered with earnest words from their friends and family, shared tender moments during their parent dances, and boogied the night away with their guests.

I’m constantly reminded how lucky I am to bear witness to these big life milestones. It’s an honor and blessing that is never lost on me. Ashley and Jim, may your future together be joyful and full of warmth! Thank you for letting me be part of your special day!!
