Sarah and Jack’s coastal wedding, set just outside Portland, Maine at Sarah’s childhood home was incredible! Their day was filled with cherished friends and family, tons of laughter, and a plethora of unique personal touches sprinkled throughout their wedding design. I was honored to take their Maine wedding photos with my dear friend Elizabeth LaDuca.
As a member of the Elizabeth LaDuca team, I started the day by capturing candid Maine wedding photos of Sarah, Jack, and their wedding party. While the gals got their glam on, the guys (and pups) lounged by the pool and played ping pong.
When it was time to get dressed, Jack was all smiles. Before leaving the house for their private first look and vow reading, Jack chuckled as he cut off his friendship bracelet, a request Sarah made which he granted.
Sarah looked radiant as she walked down the hill from her neighbor’s house toward’s Jack. First looks are one of my favorite parts of a wedding day because they’re filled with anticipation and excitement. When Jack turned around to see Sarah for the first time the look on their faces filled my heart with warmth. Then, they exchanged private vows before we headed out on the town to take more of their Maine wedding photos.
Since their wedding was held in Sarah’s hometown, they wanted to honor their love for the town by taking their couple photos at some of their favorite local spots. They excitedly jumped in their bright orange vintage jeep and we headed towards town.
After their couple photos and a quick hair change for Sarah, we called the wedding party over. And boy, was this group fun! While it was a large group, they were so focused and well mannered which allowed us to sail through wedding party photos. This was a big help because their guests started arriving and we wanted to keep them from seeing Sarah and Jack until the ceremony.
We ushered them and their wedding party into the house as guests took their seats in the backyard. For an August day, the weather was remarkably pleasant – not too hot or sticky. It probably helped that the ceremony, and the beautiful floral arch created by Chevaughn Marie Designs, faced the water so we periodically were graced with a refreshing ocean breeze. Before too long, Sarah and Jack exchanged rings and sealed the deal with a kiss. The whole scene was straight out of a fairytale!
Cocktail hours at New England weddings are always a delight. And this one was no different in that respect. One of my favorite personal touches of Sarah and Jack’s cocktail hour was the raw bar. It featured Sarah’s dad’s farm-to-table oysters — large, succulent, and oh-so-tasty!
To add to the magic, Sarah and Jack took a memorable boat ride on their neighbor’s lobster boat, before transitioning to their reception.
Breaking away from tradition, Sarah and Jack opted for a cocktail-style reception designed by the insanely talented team at Pinch Me Planning. With a luxurious (yet comfy) lounge area, a mix of high and low-top tables, and an incredible stage for their live band, the transition between cocktail hour and reception was seamless, creating an atmosphere of pure celebration and joy.
As toasts were shared and laughter filled the air, Hot Mess Boston struck up lively tunes, signaling the start of an epic dance party. And epic it was!! With hearts full of love and joy, and tummies full of cake, Sarah, Jack, and their guests danced the night away, creating memories that surely will last a lifetime.
Sarah and Jack’s Maine wedding photos reflect a true celebration of love and the coming together of two families. From their intimate first look to their unforgettable reception, every moment was a testament to their enduring love. Here’s to a lifetime of love and happiness for Sarah and Jack!
