Everything about this styled shoot was magic. Ok, maybe not the car crash my second shooter and I were in that totaled my poor Jetta whilst on our way home from the shoot…but everything else was pure magic! Kelly, from Big Rock Creek, approached me about a year ago with the idea of putting together […]
When one plans a winter wedding in Minnesota, one usually expects to deal with the threat of snow and perhaps a blizzard. One does not expect to deal with rain, and certainly not rain that turns into 100% ice the morning of your wedding. Luckily, someone was watching over Haley and Erick’s wedding because everything […]
I bet you $1000 that Sierra and Beau did not anticipate snow on their October wedding when they started their wedding planning. Sure, it’s not totally uncommon to have snow in October in good ol’ Minnesota. But when it does, it’s usually in late October…not in the middle of the freaking month! Despite the wind, […]

Many have asked me what makes a wedding great? I don’t think there’s any one answer and tastes, as in all things, are incredibly subjective.
However, with all of the weddings I’ve worked and attended as a guest, I have found a surprising amount of similarities between the weddings that I’d deem “great.”
The first significant snowfall of the season has fallen. It’s sparkly. It’s pretty. And it also means cold weather is officially here!
Because we Minnesotans know that this is only the beginning of winter, I think it’s time to talk about how to stay warm at and during outdoor winter photography sessions.
So grab a blanket, your favorite warm beverage, and maybe a note pad because I’m serving up some goodies:
Now that we’re officially in the thick of wedding season, I thought we should discuss an often forgotten-about-until-it’s-too-late subject: how the HECK do you put on those darn boutonnieres?!
If you’re reading this, don’t worry…you’re in good company. I’m pretty confident when saying no one actually knows how to do this because at EVERY. SINGLE. WEDDING. I’ve ever photographed, someone Google’s, “How to put on a boutonniere.”
So, let’s put the subject to rest once and for all in 6 easy steps.
Bridal detail photos…we’ve all seen them on Instagram and have probably pinned a butt-load of pretty photos of wedding dresses, ring photos, and flat lays on Pinterest.
I for one LOVE taking these photos but I’ve found that oftentimes they get over looked in the chaos of the wedding day. You’ve put so much thought into what jewelry you’re going to wear, the design of the invites you sent out to your guests, and the flowers you’ll be holding and I want to capture those details for you. I mean…you spent money on all of those things and they’re part of your wedding story so it *should* be documented, right?
Here we are again friends. Part 2 of my top 10 questions all couples should ask their wedding photographer.
We’re digging in a little deeper with these final five questions, and I’ve gotta say…they’re good. So sit back, maybe have a cup of coffee, and enjoy questions 6-10!
Yay!!! You just got engaged! You’ve set the date and booked your venue. Now comes the really hard part…picking a wedding photographer.
But how do you pick the right one? How will you know that you’ll A) like how the photos look, B) like how YOU look in those photos, C) even get your photos at all, AND D) get the most bang for your buck?
Selecting your wedding photographer is not a decision to make lightly. You’re investing a lot of money and you want to make sure you’re making the right choice.
Whelp, to help you out, I’ve put together a list of some of the most important questions (IMHO) brides should ask every photographer they’re considering for the job. You ready? Good. Let’s get started:
